Photographer's Note

Lahaul and Spiti is the largest district of Himachal Pradesh with the lowest population of all India!.
Divided into its two parts by a mountain range, Spiti is reached by crossing the Kunzum La ( 4551 mtrs).
As one descends to the other side the first way station is Losar – a picturesque village at the end of a long valley formed by the Spiti river.

Often windy, sometimes snowy but always dramatic in the light that visits it every evening - here is a picture of Losar, with dappled sunlight, catching the ripening fields of mustard and corn.

It is this ethereal light that gives Losar the same name as the famous Tibetan Festival of the New Year! A Godliness on Earth!
