Photographer's Note

The end of the Bengali year is marked by the celebration of CHARAK, a traditional festival praising lord Shiva. One of the remarkable part of this is the demonstration of faith by the people, which are a sort of a feast for the eyes.

A man who is a strict observer of faith is tied to the end of a rope and hung from a pole, and he swings and whirls around as hundreds of men, women and children cheer loudly and praise the gods.

This is shot on the last day of the Bengali year 1413.
