The Chenda Player, a photo from Tamil Nadu, South

Photographer's Note

On request of Prasad seeing previous photo of the Kerala Chenda Vadhyam players, the Chenda player.

I was passing the Raja Gopuram again with Julien, a man from the South of France, at 19:00, the time the procession starts off, keeping the wanted blur in mind, I used here ISO-1000 at the risk that the Chenda player would be blurred too cause while playing they were dancing in formation.

Thanks to the help of Madurai Police I could get down in the midst of all the crowd to get this low POV.

Keep on dancing ... the highpoint of the festival is still to come ...

Thanks very much for this!

This has come out so well. The low POV has worked quite well. The action of the arms has come out quite well.

The Chenda in the foreground adds a lot of dimension to the shot with the other Chenda players adding to the mood.

The brown skin tones contrast quite well against the psychedelic background.

I am living the festival vicariously through your photographs. Keep shooting.

Can I make one more request? Is it possible to see a shot from your series of the same blurred action, but from a wider POV covering a few more people, maybe even a slightly blurred shot.

Youve done a good job shooting this player in the lighting conditions presented. The focus of the mans face is there - where it counts. THe colors are fantastic as is the lighting of the mans face.

Oh, this is a damn close one and with a good low POV to get both the man's statue and the BG colored arch! Lighting conditions were not easy but you managed it quite good, getting this sharp shot, the man's hands thumbing on the drum...
Well done, looking forward for more!

The dynamism, the gentle DOF, the colours organised into pattern at the BG - details aware but not distracting.
