Photographer's Note

I know it is posed...And for that reason I held this shot so long...That and the fact, I was awaiting to see Henk`s shot of the gentleman in the middle who we found to be very hospitable... Even here you can see him gently calmingg his wife, a very warm & affectionate Lady to pose for my shot.. Some day I would like to send them this photo as my gift to them to do the leastt for pleasantness they gave us.
But then, I could overcome my reluctance to bring a shot I loved much... There are so much I loved & lost in this shot... The "Thaazhvaaram" & "Thittu Vaasal" So much the part of south Indian houses - The central open portico with elevated platform all around to chat, to socilize, to enjoy a siesta - practically every thing of daily life happens there...The rooms are all around, but the central "vaasal". The "Vizhakku Maadam" on the wall - to place the oil lamp.. So much a journey to my child hood. I can see my self couched on one of those pillars in our ancestoral country house, reading my childhood stories & day dreaming or simply playing around with my friends-all part of my childhood etched green in my heart.

This gentle man in the middle - a retired librarian with his wife & elder brother who is also a retired headMaster, all the remaining pillars holding on to their roots while the Younger generation has moved to greener pastures.. They remind me so much of my folks...My gone days...Those simpler elegent days.
Just for those memories....
