Photographer's Note

The Golden Temple, in Amritsar (also known as Harimandir Sahib) is one of the most holy Sikh temples in India. It was one of the most beautiful sights we saw in India, second only to the Taj Mahal. The temple was actually more beautiful at night than during the day.

Unlike a lot of sights we visited in India, we had a very warm feeling being here. Everyone is welcomed inside the temple complex, and we were made to feel very welcome. As we toured the temple, many worshipers stopped to explain to us what we were looking at and to share their religion and beliefs.

The temple was impeccably clean - even the footbath everyone must walk through on their way in had heated flowing water - nice touch!

The temple is surrounded by water, with a walkway leading out to it. We were unfortunately unable to visit inside the temple at night as a ceremony was taking place.

I'm Feeling Lucky in Picasa cleaned this up a little, but nothing else was done. It's hard not to take a beautiful photo of such a place.
