Photographer's Note

The picture reminds me about the situation of a lot of women around the would wich is maybe not the case here.

A large injustice is imposed to the indian women who lose their husbands. Depends of the caste to which they belong, the widows are sometimes stripped of all their goods.

Some of these women are seen rejected by the family of late and sometimes killed. One will be able to read in a newspaper that a woman died burned in her kitchen.

Many of these women are found in the street and sometimes the prostitution seems to be the last resort.
