Kerala - Making floor mats from coconut fibres

Due to a public transport strike, I was forced to travel by car rickshaw from Alappuzha to Kochi.
That obviously cost more but I had an agreement with the driver that we could stop anywhere on the way to make visits or take pictures. We left Alappuzha in the morning and arrived around 5 pm in Kochi.
The driver was an acquaintance of the family where I had stayed in the homestay in Alappuzha. While I was visiting or walking along the beach, he watched my luggage in the auto rickshaw.

He also had some suggestions for visits of which I had not read about in my guide book.
It therefore became an educational day.

So I visited a workshop where wooden boats were made and another place where a family made ropes and floor mats from coconut fibres.
See also the photos in the WS.

I cannot tell in which places exactly these pictures were taken. It was somewhere along the road between Alappuzha and Kochi, a bit more precisely between Marari and Kochi.
