Photographer's Note

This beach on Havelock Island in the Indian Andaman archipelago was according to Wikipedia named by Time Magazine as the best beach in Asia in 2004. Officially it is just called Beach #7, more popularly it is known as Radha Nagar beach.

Also according to what I have found on the internet this beach was left mainly untouched by the tsunami of 2004, while another popular beach further up the western side of Havelock Island was severely damaged.

Beach #7 was not quite as pristine as it appears to be in this picture. In the other direction there was a crowd of at least half a dozen people.

This is also my photo #900 on TrekEarth. I never imagined I would reach a figure like that.

I have scanned this photo from the winter of 2001 from a Kodachrome slide. And with a winter photo like this I wish everybody a Happy New Year. If you want to see a larger version you will find it here.
