Photographer's Note

After 2 nights stay at Sangla ( Pic1 and Pic2), we started our journey for Kalpa where we were supposed to spend a night or two before returning for Shimla. However as fate would have it, I had a change of mind and decided to venture to the less comfortable terrains of Tabo and Kaza in the Spiti valley. It was an abrupt decision and came as a shock to our driver, whose car we had rented. It was at this place where he stopped the car and I had to pacify him for this sudden change in our itinerary. As he was refilling the tank with diesel, I realized the beauty that lied in front. This is one of the many panoramas that I had captured during this trip.

Reckong Peo, also simply known as Peo by the local inhabitants, is the capital of Kinnaur district, one of the twelve administrative districts of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. At a height of 2,290 metres (7,513 ft), Reckong Peo is 260 kilometres (162 miles) from Shimla and 2 hrs drive from Sangla. Earlier Kalpa was the headquarters later changed to Reckong Peo, named after group of people who used to own this place in ancient times.
