Photographer's Note

In the blue city of Jodhpur there a lot of things to see - Mehrangarh Fort with magnificent views and interiors, temples, busy market, palaces, old havelis, royal cenotaphs and gardens, I will show it later (maybe:)) but first I want to present other fascinating places. From Jodhpur we went to Osian. There are very few tourists there.

Osian is an oasis in the desert situated on the diversion off the main Jodhpur - Bikaner Highway. A drive to this ancient township takes one past undulating terrain, punctuated by desert stretches and little hamlets.
Osian has 15 Jain temples, the most spectacular of which is the Mahavira temple built around 775 A.D.
The Sachiya Mata Temple complex can be entered through a series of magnificent arches, which are superbly sculpted. The main shrine was constructed circa 1178.

The temples in Osian have wonderfully carved outer walls but even more impressive it was inside. I like tha Jain temples most of all. They are so full of life, the people are smiling and friendly, they sing, dance in the temples.
The photo is of rather poor quality, it was quite dark inside. But on TE there are very few photos of inside of Indian temples and I would like to show how it looks like. Here it was interesting to me that the fire was inside and the group of women (men on the other side) was sitting by it. The yellow flowers (Tagetes) on the left are a typical feature. When you see them on the street, it means there is a temple nearby.
I hope you like it (or find interesting).

In WS splendid detail from outside and the entrance to the temple.
