Photographer's Note
Hawa Mahal (English translation: "Palace of Winds" or "Palace of the Breeze") is so named because it was essentially a high screen wall built so the women of the royal household could observe street festivals while unseen from the outside. Constructed of red and pink sandstone, the palace sits on the edge of the City Palace, and extends to the zenana, or women's chambers.
The structure was built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh.

Goedenavond Gerrit,
Heel mooi fotowerk, bedankt.
Groeten uit Vlaanderen,
John.

Hello Gerrit,
You show the famous building from a good angle which unfortunately I didn't see. I was very surprised the first time I realized that the pink façade was really just a screen. But also from this side the architecture is fascinating, and the persons on the balcony make the view lively. It's a well composed photo with excellent light and colours.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Gerrit, truly an original intended use in the past for this building, the women looked but could not be seen .... and the spectacle of this architecture is remarkable, even the people with its colors give their contribution to the beauty of the composition. Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

Hallo Gerrit,
Een fantastisch gebouw in Jaipur waarvan je ons hier een deel van de top presenteert.
Prachtige warme tinten en heel mooie architecturale versieringen.
Leuk met de groep bezoekers die in de andere richting kijken.

Hello Gerrit, I think that I have seen views of this building but from the other side, so it is interesting to see it from this angle.
It is quite a complicated construction with a lovely variety of shapes and decoration.
Excellent sharpness.
Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi Gerrit,
Amazing architecture, so very decorative and colorful. The orange yellow theme must be hard to maintain -they must repaint it frequently.
I like the framing from the left which seems to go well with the curve made by the little domes.
Beautiful place, excellent presentation,
M

Hello Gerrit,
What an amazing photograph, clearly revealing the repeating, tower-like shapes as they mount to the balcony of this very unusual but beautiful building.
The colours and the style make it quite unique.
I love the building but wonder if you could possibly have removed the cranes before posting it.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Gerrit,
This view of the palace is beautiful; I really like the color and architecture. A lot of people are enjoying the balcony, and I like the bit of arch that you included on the left side of the scene. Take care!
