Photographer's Note

Two more monochrome photos from the city of Jaipur, capital of Rajasthan state in western India, in October 1977. They are both just quick snaps from the streets and they were both scanned from Ilford FP5 negatives.

The main photo shows an ordinary street stall in the old part of Jaipur. I am not quite sure what was sold here, but it looks like tomatoes. I am surprised, and slightly disappointed, that only four persons were looking at me: two behind the salesman and two in the street. I remember having a feeling I was surrounded by at least a dozen staring men at all times. Maybe my memories fail me after 43 years.

Jaipur is often known as the Pink City, which this colour photo explains:

Another street view from Jaipur is in the WS.
