Photographer's Note

Megalosaurus (great lizard) was a carnivore associated with the middle Jurassic period of 181 - 169 MYA. Average dimensions were: length 9 to 10 metres; height 3 metres; and weight 1,000 - 1,500 kgs. It may have been mostly a scavenger. Megalosaurus walked on 2 powerful legs that featured 3 forward-facing toes and 1 reversed toe, with sharp claws. There was a large head with sharp serrated teeth, a short but strong and flexible neck, a bulky body, and a long and strong tail flattened from side to side.

This photograph was taken in the Indodra Fossil and Dinosaur Park, Gandhinagar.
