Photos

At a small interesction somewhere within the backstreets of the city of Ahmedabad I came across a little market. It is not a tourist market, the vendors are nearly all women and they are mostly selling fruit, vegeatbles and spices to other women. Many children were helping their mothers and grandmothers to sell the produce. They were very friendly and most didn't mind my asking for a photograph. The children, especially, love to have their photos taken and the instant it's taken, they crowd in, wanting to see the screen on the back of the camera to see what they look like. If there's one great advantage to having a digital camera these days then it's this ability to show these delighted kids their picture on the screen on the back!

The photograph above shows a young girl, older than all the other children, perhaps 11 or 12 years old. She wasn't as excited as the young kids who wanted to be in every shot but when I asked her if I could take a picture of her she was happy to oblige.
