Photographer's Note

It is only on the ascent that a visitor is able to grasp the artistic achievement that is the Adalaj Vav. The twin pillars, that rest on the fourth step of the corridor, form a natural frame for the shrines and the octagonal opening high above the landing. The Dada Harir and this stepwell are among the architectural highlights of Sultanate architecture in Gujarat.

It does not take a lot of time to visit a stepwell, and the next stop on my itinerary was to be the Indroda Dinosaur and Fossil Park in Gandhinagar - the state capital - to the northeast.
