Photographer's Note
The Karma Vedha ceremony (piercing of ears) is over for this little girl. The crying has stopped and now safe in her mothers arms. We were invited to spend the entire morning with this family, several of the young girls were have their ears pierced at the same time. We stuffed rupees into the girls hands after the piercing had taken place along with other family members, we ate corn and rice after each piercing, and drank the blessed coconut water. All this of course afforded us great photo opportunities.

Hi Elaine
This is just awesome such a beautiful endearing capture...
The basis of a great shot, I find myself looking straight at their stunning pairs of piercing eyes and superbly framed tight in this manner. Two wonderful expressions has been captured perfectly of a fine subject with impact. Congrats
Best wishes

Hello Elaine,
How lovely that you were offered such kind hospitality and invited to take such a close part.
This is a lovely portrait of the two, nicely cropped to give emphasis to their faces and upper clothing.
Their expressions are completely different. The mother is stern and direct, looking quite aloof.
The little girl, on the other hand, has an expression of curiosity and, perhaps, a little apprehension.
Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)
