Photographer's Note
Sorry I couldn't resist the naf title.
Dressed in the red and yellow saris of pilgrims they climb the stairs to one of the inner sanctums at the beautiful Brihadishwara Temple in Thanjavur.
If you come here, come twice: in the morning, when the honey-hued granite asserts its dominance over the white dawn sunshine, and in the evening, when the rocks capture a hot palette of reds, oranges, yellows and pinks. What a place!

Hello Elaine,
Good title for this beautiful picture. Fantastic view of these women in similar red and yellow saris climbing the stairs in Thanjavur. This is wonderful complex in every time . I was amazed how small interiors are there.
Kind regrads Malgo

Hello Elaine,
Your enthusiasm oozes from your notes as well as your photograph!
The ladies make an irresistible guide from the f/g to the temple and what a wonderful, colourful line they make!
There are some excellent details of shadows and textures and ancient carvings and sculptures that will mean so much more to the people of the faith.
I'm intrigued, is there an up stairway and a down stairway?
Have a lovely Sunday,
Bev :-)

Hello Elaine,
Both our compositions today follow similar themes, people climbing steps to enter the temple. How strange is that? The ladies in their colourful costumes are real eye-catchers and stand out beautifully from the stonework of the temple. I like very much the lighting and the perfectly rendered colours and textures.

Hello Elaine,
This is both an exotic shot rich in colors, and an action shot as the women make their way up the steep staircase. The make an interesting staggered zig-zag appearance, perhaps a little too wide to walk up side-by-side. The colors, definition, depth-of-field are all first rate.
Warm regards, Elaine.

Probably the most used song title reference in pictures. I've been able to resist using it, so far. :)
Great light, wonderful composition and the uniformity of dress is just superb. This is an excellent shot, Elaine. One of my favourites in your gallery!

Hi Elaine
Another strong image as my eye is drawn towards the stairs and devotees' stunning red saris where the well balanced composition helps this one enormously. Lovely temple ambient and sublime lighting....
Another delightful shot, Congrats.
Best wishes
