Poongal Kolam, a photo from Tamil Nadu, South

Photographer's Note

In Tamil Nadu after Deepavali in November, Poongal is a famous festival. On that day people use new rice to make poongal sweets and say thanks to Sun God who give us light everyday. On that day everybody makes the most colorful Kolam at the entrance of their door to attract the attention of the passengers and to welcome guests.
With this first photo I like to welcome you with all the colors as warm greetings from Tamil Nadu .

What a nice tradition you have where you welcome guests by painting the entrance. This is a nice and colourful image and I like how the girls dress is matching the colour in the pattern :O)

I I've made a mistake, I thouth Ramsh Lawani was the one for Madurai, the one I've meet ;o)....Sorry, the one I know is you. Off course I remember you, so what's about your short trip in Chennai !
A beautiful picture, colorful, every morning I saw those women making tkolam, but not colored as this one.
