One of India's oldest art forms, Kathak is a classical dance which took origin in North India. The dance is characterised by rapid graceful movements. Unlike the other classical dance forms, many of its famous exponents have been male, including Pandit Birju Maharaj.

Katha in Sanskrit means story, and Kathaka means story teller

I've seen bharata natyam many times but never heard of kathak before
Much difference between these 2 ?
Anyway I like a lot the elegance of these dances and above all, when knows a bit about it, all the work that is behind the performance
I was very impressed by that

Such a beuatiful portrait of the dancer. I love her elegant posture and soft and beuatiful expression on her face. I like the face that she is not looking toward the camera, giving it more of a natural feel. Beautiful and rich colors and lovely composition.

A very interesting note you have given us and a stunning portrait by way of illustration.

This really is a fabulous photograph considering that it looks as though it was taken in really quite difficult light - and at a focal length of 210mm!

The lighting is wonderful and you have made the very most of it with perfect exposure and perfect colours. The details and sharpness are superb too. Not only that, but you have caught this attractive lady in perfect pose and have also managed to show her wonderful dress and jewellery perfectly.
