Photographer's Note

This, after the walk down the avenue, is the north face of the mausoleum. I find it uniquely approachable and human, not at all large, measuring overall something like 17 x 21 metres. In part, I suppose, colour plays a key role. It is set off by Tipu Sultan's standard - red, with touches of the tiger, and I recall a gold tassel. Here he, his father and mother, lay at rest, heads to the north, facing to the right, the mosque, and Mecca, their tombs covered in bright cloths. This is a great destination for a visit, and for reflection.
