The grandeur of unbelievable sculptures and carvings depicting various stories from Hindu philosophy, on the outer walls and boulders of the famous Keshava Temple, Somanathapura, Mysore District. This temple leaves anyone spellbound of the richness of its intricate carvings and through this, the mindblowing method of storytelling of various epics of Hindusim, such as Ramayana, Mahabharatha and Bhagavatha Purana. There is not an inch left un-carved here. rnrnThe temple was consecrated in 1258 C.E. by Somanatha Dandanayaka, a general of the Hoysala King Narasimha III. The temple is enclosed in a courtyard with a pillared corridor of small shrines (damaged). The main temple in the center is on a high star-shaped platform with three symmetrical sanctums (garbha-griha), set in a square matrix (89' x 89') oriented along the east–west and north–south axes. This is a must visit if you are preparing a checklist of places to see in India.
