Photographer's Note

The 17 meter high Jain monolith at the ancient site of Shravanbelgola domiantes the temle site. The statue was erected between AD 980 and AD 983 you have to climb 700 hot granite steps to reach it.

At the feet of the Gomateshwara here

The title refers to the politically charged novel and 1997 Booker prize winner by Indian author Arundhati Roy. A story about the childhood experiences of a pair of fraternal twins who become victims of circumstance. The book is a description of how the small things in life build up, translate into people's behavior and affect their lives.
