Photographer's Note

Hampi is a village in northern Karnataka, India. It is located in the ruins Vijayanagara city, the former capital of the Vijayanagara Empire. Predating the city of Vijayanagara, it continues to be an important religious centre, housing the Virupaksha Temple, as well as several other monuments belonging to the old city. The ruins are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, listed as the Group of Monuments at Hampi. According to statistics of 2014, Hampi is the most searched historical place in Karnataka on Google.

My camera was pointed towards the world heritage architecture and try to capture its beauty. And then I turned my lens towards the street and found this sight of daily life right outside the temple. A lady selling chili pepper on the streets of Hampi. To her this is her point of sale. While she might be aware that the temple is a historical site, I am guessing her thoughts would be focussed on how much of peppers she would sell for that day.
