Not far form the shop in that sells the fierce red chillies is this corner outlet draped in cool and fresh banana (and other) leaves.
Banana leaves have a wide range of applications because they are large, flexible, waterproof and decorative. They are used for cooking, wrapping and food serving in a wide range of cuisines of tropical and subtropical areas. Banana leaves are used for decorative and symbolic purposes in numerous Hindu and Buddhist ceremonies. In traditional home building in the tropical areas, roofs and fences are made of thatched dry banana leaves.
Banana and palm leaves were historically the primary writing surface in many nations of South and Southeast Asia.
Banana leaves used in cuisine are generally large, flexible, and waterproof. When cooking food with or serving or wrapping food with banana leaves, they may confer an aroma to the food. Steaming with banana leaves imparts a subtle, sweet flavour to the dish.

What a vibrant image! So many shades of green, it instantly appeals and makes a fascinating subject. Likewise, your note makes me stop and think of the wonder of the humble banaba, your list of uses is quite extensive and very cool. The endor is placed really well inside the frame too, surrounded by the many many greens of his trade. Very nicely done!

What interesting notes!
I had no idea that banana leaves were so versatile!
They, also, make a very attractive green display in your photograph, which is well composed, the angle of the table being nicely off-centre.
I don't think the shopkeeper is too pleased by your attention! Maybe, he is just deep in his own thoughts!

The title is certainly well chosen...;-). This is an interesting and attractive photo with an equally interesting and informative note. The notes are really important parts of the contributions to TE. The bundles of wrapped banana leaves are displayed on two double lines meeting at a straight angle at the corner of the desk, making the composition graphically attractive.

A fine capture of this stall holder with his wonderful array of banana leaves. The image is nicely exposed despite the difficult conditions. The man makes a good focal point sat behind his stall. Lovely vibrant colours and very good sharpness. Excellent depiction of daily life.

Hi Satya, The green banana leaves which bundled in rolls caught my eyes. It remembers me when I was small I used to take this for umbrella from getting wet in the rain. Wonderful POV with great light and details. Thank for sharing

A good follow up shot to the red chilies shot previously uploaded. Good sharpness and nice repetition of the bundles and satchels all in green. I might have added about 5% yellow. Excellent shadow detail and framing. Tfs!

After red chilly comes green paan and banana leaves. Very symbolic of Bengal's political picture :-) A fine street and DL shot from the market. I like the shopkeeper's eye contact with your lens and the vibrant green all over the frame amidst the market surroundings. Nicely done and thanks for sharing.

you've achieved very vivid green tones both in the bright and the shady areas of this tight view. They provide a kind of symmetry that frames the gentleman with the serious and intense gaze in the middle of the composition. I totally understand that you were driven to take photo of this stall. I remember stopping every few minutes in Thailand to photograph similar scenes. The abundance of green color is very attention drawing in here and additional interest create different sizes and shapes of the leaves' rolls and packets. Nice framing and well given colors.

A dramatic contrast between this shot and your red chillies shot. Not just in the colours but the coolness that this one exudes. I was fascinated to read the many uses for banana leaves in your note. I never realised that they were water-proof and that you used them so much in cooking. Excellent contribution to TE, thanks for sharing.

The overpowering green makes a lot of diff as a strong contributor transforming this to an eye popping with excellent eye connection to further strengthen this shot. On the minus side, as you can see there' s some areas on the fg appear to be over exposed! but overall it's a fine candid, an insight into the street culture. Congrats
