Photographer's Note

note: I apologize for the low quality on the clouds - for some reason my export compressed the photo immensely - I'll try reposting it sometime.

I have consistently noticed that a receding Himalayan hailstorm produces some of the most dramatic and ominous light. On an earlier photograph I noticed this at a lower elevation, but at these higher snow-covered regions, the light highlights new details.

The underexposure of the foreground and the clouds is intentional here: I metered on the temporarily bright strips of snow on the faroff ridge. I can imagine a large number of crops of this photograph that will work just as well; however, I thought that the wider angle looks better because it frames the highlighted ridge in the distance. Feel free to add any workshops.
