Photographer's Note

Gaumukh annouces her presence in awesome silence. As we make a turn and come up a soft mound, she is there. And the heart knows without being informed.

A magnification of 400% will show a human being on this path somewhere in the middle of the photo. Size takes on a completely new definition in these areas.

Depth is more easily understood as inner depth while walking here. The body moves on its own momentum despite fatigue.

The Bhagirathi starts her journey to the Bay of Bengal on the right side of the stones...the entire journey from Gangotri to Gaumukh has the Bhagirathi to the right.

In these environs, while we walk alongside on this path, she gives the impression of being an exquisite necklace on the slender neck of a dancer whose very breath makes the necklace move, ever so slightly.

However, when we get closer to her, we observe that she is racing towards her destination and has no patience with any obstacle/hurdle..she either goes over or round or by her incessant pounding, breaks the huge rocks up, :-). No matter how she treats them, the rocks and stones soon get smoothened and rounded, reduced in dimensions until they finally become light enough to be carried by her currents and be left behind on some bank while she flows on ahead, :-).

Precisely what happens to our inner equipments (mind, ego, intellect) when we come into contact with the qualities that Ganga embodies.
