Photographer's Note
'A Hindoo fakir'... This is a close up of the second man in my earlier picture 'Thugee'....normally a team of two worked the caravan routes...this one's honest face would convince the trader that he was trustworthy and could be allowed to accompany the caravan...what transpired later would be another story!!
Anyway that was another story...from another era
This is the face of India..warm, friendly, full of character.....definitely celebrating life in full colour!!

lovely portrait, if this is India, I'm going :o) the tight crop works, though I would like to have seen his entire beard in the frame. Colours are great and so is DOF and sharpness.

Great portrait (one of my favorite on TE) with beautiful colors, details and texture. One can tell that you got close and communicated with him while taking the picture.. that is an art!

I had already added this photo to my favourites, time to say why: good composition, all in function of the main thing here, the piercing eyes in a wrinkle of his laugh and sharp face and beard surrounded by a clear velvet red bright color. Yes this is definitly India as I like.

This is a great, closely cropped photo. Excellent expression, very nice exposure and everything is really nice and sharp. Perhaps the sharpening is a little high, but not terribly so. I could tell this was taken with a Sony camera without even looking at the details, there is something about the way Sony does red that I recognize. Good one.
