Photographer's Note

Fatehpur Sikri is a memorable and remarkably well preserved city that was capital of the Mughal empire from 1571 to 1585 before being abandoned, probably due to water supply problems. The city was built from solid red sand stone.
On our visit the place was just about empty due to just finished tensions in the region to do with the Bangladesh war of independence when most foreign airlines stopped flying into India.
Scanned from a slide.
