Photographer's Note

Just wandering around the back streets of Agra Old Quarter looking for anything of interest when I came across this small village enterprise dealing with grains. Someone must be getting on with their daily business, business was slow or unfinished business perhaps and sign of the times seemed a very serious though. The merchant and his worker appeared lost in their own world and seemingly unaware of my presence when they were clearly engrossed in their own thoughts momentarily while I was happily firing away few quick shots.

But what really caught my eye here was a rather charming well used antique weighing scale of such huge size that was probably state of the art at the time, a little treasure lurk hidden away here. I remember similar balances used by many grain grinding shops in the 50s when I was a child in Singapore, the atmosphere of 'faded but still at your service' all bring back so many good memories. Obviously serious business that oozes local flavour, atmosphere and character, off course the weighing device rekindles rusty memories of Physics lessons.

A joy and privilege to witness,,,,.
