Photographer's Note

restoration work at fatehpur sikri. im amazed everytime i see these highly skilled artists at their work. extremely talented, they work with precision and keen eye for details. the intricate design was being painstakingly chiselled out on this red sandstone. tough tough tough job.

but then their wonderful works of art remain to be appreciated while the creators are easily forgotten. only the emperor's name is carved out on the immortal stones. the true artists are never mentioned. so in this photo i kept their faces hidden. just their work is proof of their existence.
