Photographer's Note
While on a trek in Kashmir we passed many of the local people moving their animals to the summer pastures and camps. This family group were having tea when we passed them, I was asked if I'd like some and I never refuse a cup of tea! They had alot of work to do to the summer houses as the winter had taken its toil, you can see the house behind them. Lots of repair work to their basic home for the summer. There were also homes that had been completely destroyed by avalanches and trees up rooted and scattered all over the pastures in some places.

A very nice image of the traditional tea drinking ritual of everyday life...I see they were enjoying a pipe too.....such a relaxed scene ....16 years ago......perhaps it is not such a relaxed place to travel in now....
best wishes Kev

Hi Simon,
I like this shot, the clarity and the nice light bring out the green colour and add to the scene. A nice image well photographed.

Wow... this is such a great picture. It is a long time I haven't seen a picture that just propels me in one second in another space/time dimension. it has also some unusual rendering, the light together with the smoke likely. i like it a lot, right in my favorites.

Nice shot Simon. I like the composition of this very much.
I thought I had left a critique yesterday but seems I'd only marked the note as useful for some reason.
See you use only film so I'm impressed with the quality of your scanning - do you use one of those devices for transferring direct from negatives?
cheers Leon.

with a cool and breezy surrounding like this, a cup of tea is a must! this foto is so elegantly composed with most of the 'participants' caught in their natural moods. great one!
happy new year!

I just spotted this in your random photos. What a great catch of this informal tea party. Technically it could use a little more contrast but a super picture all the same.

Hi Simon,
While visiting your gallery I found the travelogue and the related photographs. This snap portrays the life of the people out there perfectly. I think the best part of the snap is its warmth and simplicity.
