Photographer's Note

As the day breaks a Kashmiri man rows his 'Shikhara' ( a wooden boat very unique to Jammu and Kashmir used for varied purposes) towards the shore of the famous Dal Lake in Srinagar the capital of J&K.
He will be competing with many other fellow boatmen to ferry tourists around the Dal Lake. For an hours ride around the lake they charge 300-400 Indian rupees (around $5-7). Decades of insurgency and terrorism had kept the tourists away and had made life miserable for them. Few years of recent calm has ensured the return of the tourists and has given back these men their livelihood. I hope the good sense prevails and full fledged normalcy returns to the state without the presence of the Indian Army.
Thanks for having a look.
