Nubra valley

Photographer's Note

Hello everybody

I captured this image in 1st week of July, 2012 when I traveled Nubra Valley. It is 150 kms from Leh (capital of Ladakh district). The valley is under the rest of the Tibetan Plateau, Nubra is a high altitude cold desert. The majority of the people at Nubra are Buddhists. In the western or lowest altitude end of Nubra Valley near the Line of Control i.e. the Indo-Pak border, along the Shyok River. The main road access to the Nubra Valley is over Khardung La pass (18,380 ft.) which is open throughout the year. Its status as the highest motorable road in the world. It is one of the beautiful place in the total Ladakh region.

Between Hundar and Diskit (under Nubra) lie several kilometres of sand dunes, and (two-humped) bactrian camels graze in the neighbouring "forests" of seabuckthorn.

The image when I took at the sunset time. The sun light reflected on the yellow stone and made golden beauty.

nicely realised, the clouds shadows increase the sense of third dimension, the mountains slopes direct our view on the silhouetted group of camels.

Golden slopes with shades mingling fabulousely, but the most eyes catching elements are the camels caravan afoot of the mountains.

another impressive image. the slopes by themselves are incredible, but the presence of the caravan give us a sense of scale, life and movement. well done. beautiful use of the light and elements.

I really like the contrasts between the sunlit parts of the mountain slope and the parts in the shade.

A superb study of light and shade with marvellous symmetrical reflections in the fg water. Good sharpness and minimalist color reminiscent of a sepia tone. The fg caravan of camel riders provides an excellent focal point. Tfs!
