Photographer's Note

Triund is a first glimpse of the Himalayas just behind MacLeod Ganj - MacLeod Ganj in turn is the home of a large number of exile Tibetans and the seat of the Dalai Lama. It attracts a great many Western as well as (during the weekends) tourists from the Punjab, Kashmiri traders have made their home there as well as Himachali goatherds whom you can find further up in the hills.

The man on the picture is Nawang Tashi, (former) monk, part time travel guide, religious teacher, taking a break from sprinting up the mountain to pose for me.
