Photographer's Note

Kaza, situated on the left bank of River Spiti, is presently the headquarters of Spiti sub-division. Its perched at an elevation of 3,740 meters (12,300 ft) above mean sea level, is the largest township and commercial center of the valley and as is typical of the valley - its largely Tibetan. The town is overlooked by steep ridges that are permanently covered with snow on their top.

One evening I captured this scene as I walked from the Kaza monastery to the river bank, & noticed these isolated small trees creating an amazing luminescence against the backdrop of the green fields of sweet pea, the blue streak of River Spiti & the menacing dark brown treeless mountain slopes.
