Photographer's Note

people in india have tough lives, which gives us travellers a lot to think about. i feel that the the caste system demands that the lower-castes do the opposite of what this book's title suggests. so i liked the irony of a lower-caste guy pedalling upper-caste/western ideals (especially at a busy, polluted traffic light).

i've cropped the picture to frame the guy with the two balanced autos (the yellow things), but i'm not sure if it's better cropped further to remove the one on the right. i'll post to workshop, anyone with an opinion, good or bad, i'd love to hear it. i read a nice quote this evening by my favourite poet, it relates well to the world of criticism:

"if you are irritated by every rub, how will you be polished?" - rumi

again, like the 'A is for...' the technical side of the photo isn't great - P L E A S E if you can see something i can be doing better, tell me!
