History
Connaught Place has a long and distinguished history behind it. Named after the Duke of Connaught, a member of the British royal family, this market was designed by Designed by Robert Tor Russell in collaboration with WH Nicholls. A sprawling circular market, it was the largest of its kind in India at that time.
The British believed that a market in the shape of a horseshoe would prove lucky for both shoppers and shopkeepers. There may be something in that as CP continues to be delhi’s premier shopping destination even after sixty-five years of its birth.
Apart from being the commercial and business hub of Delhi, CP has countless restaurants, watering holes, shops and emporia and cinema halls too.

How I was there
After a lot of inquiries, I dropped in Connaught place to buy the Tripod, with my friend. This is my first visit of this place.
While roaming the shops, I have seen many beautiful locations in this circle. almost I spent 5,6 hours here.
you can see every kind of shop in this circular area.
The building stands like the legends. Here I am trying to show the pillars of legends.

The pillars look beautiful.Very nice capture.
The shade and the tone is brilliant. The old age charm is present every inch.

Hi Imtiyaz:
CP and the nearby Janpath were our favourite hangouts during our college days at Delhi in the early 70s. It certainly was Delhi's premier shopping destination then. Though you say it still holds that honour, I am too not sure. I haven't been to CP in years but I think that it has lost out to the shopping areas in South Delhi that are now far more popular with the elite.
You have caught the present mood of CP beautifully – slightly decrepit and desolate but strongly reminding one of its past glory. A great pic!
