Photographer's Note

We have emerged , evolved and become modern but I wonder whether intrinsically would we ever change..and if we did would we lose the spice that India is and become robotic..clinically bland..I love the idiosyncrasies that are a part of any culture. The special traits that kind of classify people all over the is those beautiful special flaws that make us all individuals.

This is a shot of a posh neighbourhood in the modern capital of India New Delhi. We now have radio taxis-trust me they are god sent. Clean , safe with GPS and known for their drivers who are cultured and polite, the taxi service is better than a lot I have traveled in the western world.

However left to themselves..people will switch to who they are as did this taxi driver..during a free moment. Parked under the shade of trees by the roadside, he is relaxing with feet out of the window , smoking a beedi(an indigenous cigarette which actually tobacco rolled in a dried beetel leaf) . I deliberately left out his registration number..lest he lose his job.
