Photographer's Note
Heading towards Buxa Tigar Reserve by Siliguri-Alipurduar train line. This line was converted in to broad gauge from meter gauge in 2004. The Siliguri-Alipurduar broad gauge line cuts across the corridor that connects the Apalchand Reserve Forest of Baikunthapur Forest Division and the Mal Block of Kalimpong Forest Division. In seven years up to 2011, 60 elephants have been killed by trains on this line.
Earlier, known as one of the beautiful rail journeys in forest, now it is the death track for elephant, python, and wild buffaloes.
