This is a photograph of the interior of the ruined
Qutb-Shahi Mosque,which was built in 1582 by some Maqdum Sheikh.The city of Pandua ( originally called
"Firuzabad" ) was founded by the Sultan of Delhi Firoz
Shah,who succeeded Muhammad-bin Tuglaq to the throne in 1551,sometime during his 37 year-long reign. Lakhnauti(Islamic name for "Gour",the capital of Bengal under the Pala and Sena dynasties)was at that
time the capital of the Bengal province,which had been part of the Islamic Empire with its capital at Delhi since Bengal had been conqured by Malik Ikhtiyar
-ud-din Muhammad Khalji sometime between the close of the 12th and the early 13th crntury,after the-then Sena-Ruler of Bengal Lakhasmana Sena was forced to flee from his kingdom under a surprise night-attack by the Muslims.It was sometime during his reign between 1339-1345 that the Governor of the Delhi Sultans in North Bengal,Ala-ud-din Ali Shah,who had declared his independence from the tutelege of the Delhi Sultanate,removed his capital from Lakhnauti to Firuzabad(Pandua).
