Photographer's Note

This is a shot of a portion of the HOLI COLORS MARKET...
in my Locality!
Dry Holi colors are known as Gulalor ABIR in Bengali language. Originally, Gulal was made of flowers and other materials that had the coloring properties. However, chemically produced colors have taken their place over the period of time. The gulal is available in many colors like red, green and yellow. Since it is a soft color it does not leave a lot of stain and harmful effects on the skin. Gulal is also used for greeting the guests on the occasion of Holi and it forms an indispensable part of Holi all over India. Differennt shades of Gulal like red, green, blue, saffron etc. can also be created at home with natural substances.
