Photographer's Note

jhalong is one of the lesser known places in Dooars. It is 107 kms from Siliguri - or about an hour from New Mal station.

The forest rest house is just next to the river. This place is best visited in the moonsoon - but beware of leeches !!

From here you can go to Bindu - at Bhutan border - had heard a lot about it - but found it a bit disappointing. The road to Tode was closed - so could not go there.

There is a small market with a few shops.

This is not a place where you can go shopping,go for a movie, have lots of fancy food, go for seeing this and that. This is place where nature rules.

I have not posted the views of the Jhalong valley - they have been posted earlier by Dhurjati - which have been taken from the road. However there is a view point much high above, which has magnificent views into Bhutan as well. When i went there it had started raining - so could not take those shots.
