Photographer's Note

The famous broken bridge over Jayanti River, which got destroyed in a devastating flood in the 90's.

Once Jayanti was a thriving trading centre, and was connected by metre gauge rail. However after the Buxa Tiger Reserve was formed, the extraction of dolomite
ore from the adjacent bhutan hills stopped, due to environmental issues, and soon Jayanti lost its importance.

Now no one even bothers to repair the bridge and resume the rail service. The broken bridge stands alone and deserted, much like the place itself.
