Photographer's Note

Two children carrying bricks in a brick kiln. The child on the foreground is barely eight or nine years old. The one in the background is approximately fourteen years old. It is unclear whether they are part of bonded labor force in this brick kiln. They may not be. They may simply be augmenting the earning of their family by working. Without their labor, the family will be at a disadvantage. Boys of this age also were workiing in that kiln, mostly digging soil.
[You can also see one woman laborer getting a token from the woman sitting on the ground. Every laborer earns a token for each load he or she carries. At the end of the day, the tokens are tallied and the pay is counted out.]
