Photographer's Note

This is another shot taken on the eve of Dwipannita Lakshmi Puja again. As you know, on this eve Kuber, Lakshmi and Vishnu are worshipped.

Lakshmi is worshipped in this season of festivity as new crop (paddy) is getting nurtured in the field and there is a chance
that this year it may return a lot of money to the farmer.

Here, everything for the worship is ready. Only the priest is to come to worship the idols. The paintings on the floor are called Alpana. This is also prepared using a mixture of ground rice and water. House wives who paint have got no training to draw them. The ideas flow along traditionally. (In other parts of India these are drawn with colour too.)

This puja / worship starts with worshipping the evil God Alakshmi or anti Lakshmi who makes your peaceful and prosperous life deserted. The
priest first worships Alakshmi then starts worshipping Lakshmi.

More on this puja tomorrow.
