Photographer's Note

From Vladikavkaz I headed for Tbilisi along the Georgian Military Road. For this, I had to ascend along the valley of the Terek to the checkpoint Verkhniy Lars, cross the Russian – Georgian border, go further thru Darial Gorge up to the Krestoviy Pass (2379 m above sea level), descent along the Aragvi to Mtskheta, and then to Tbilisi. Along this way there are a lot of picturesque and interesting places. Among them, the most famous object is Ananuri.

This architectural complex is located near Ananuri Village in the Dusheti’s District of Georgian region Mtskheta-Mtianeti, on the right bank of the artificial Zhinvali’s lake (it is seen in the background) formed with the Aragvi Dam, at the place, where the small river Vedzavkhevi (you can see it in the foreground) flows into the lake.
