Photographer's Note

Left high and dry when the tide retreats, and this looks to me as if it's a fairly a smart canoe stranded on the shore of Lashi lake patiently waiting for the return of the next tide. A simple capture on a cool sunny spring during my early morning photo routine, thought was worth it just perfect conditions for few shots.

Situated along the south eastern slopes of the towering Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (5500 meters) and surrounded by mountains on all sides, the diamond-shaped basin of Lashi lake watershed is a spectacular setting for exploring the surrounding rural areas with its abundant of natural resources.

At an elevation of 2500 meters, Lashi is the largest highland lake in Lijiang County, the grassy marshland on the banks of this picturesque lake is paradise to thousands of birds, wetland animals and plants and large bird migration takes place every year usually in early winter to escape bitter cold of northern Yunnan. This scenic place and its surrounding basin is also home to some 10,000 ethnics Naxi and Yi minorities who depend upon the watershed’s resources for their livelihood.
