Photographer's Note
The roadside cook, not often seen in the west, cooks everyday in China. This is his or her way of life. The wind and rain and dust they must endure.
Here in the heat of the wok, this cook sturfries a meal hot and ready in minutes - again and again with magic perfection. There is no control, just a long earned sense of timing and look as he or she knows when it is just right to serve.
This life is slowly fading.

Hello David,
Slowly fading? I hope not! Street food in Asia is one of the absolute highlights when travelling there. Maybe you're right, of course, but I refuse to be that pessimistic.
Great food picture, great textures below the wok, good framing and format.
Cook fast, eat slow.

Hi David,
long time no see!
I was about to quit TE, and you were absent from time to time. Anyway, I'm very glad to see your new photos here!
as always, they show us the essence of a situation or an event or of a single moment..
This one is an excellent shot! the fire looks incredibly real and at the same time so artistic. The hands holding the wok and stick are a visible proof of the heat which the fire creates :)
warm greetings from cold autumnal Moscow,
Elena
