Photographer's Note

During the spring/summer in Urumqi,China you can find night markets all over the city. This particular one is called the XingFuTun Night market. About 2hrs before dusk people begin setting up booths to sell items, games for people to play, or temporary restraunts (like this one). I loved going to it and watching the people mill around socializing and enjoying the brief few months of good outdoor weather. This man belongs to one of China's minority groups called the Hui. Most Hui look like the average Chinese, or Han, person but that is where the similarity stops. Hui are Muslim, and as such, don't eat the same food as the Han. Many Hui have opened Muslim restraunts all over the city, just as this man has done.
