Photographer's Note

In Aberdeen, Hong Kong, retired chinese people spend their time outside their houses, playing cards or checkers.

Though the public areas where the men gathered were built in typical western suburban style, I thought some of the scenes I saw or the way they were moving through the buildings were definitely the chinese way.

The moment I took this scene, I also had behind me an old bearded chinese man whose face was framed right by the opening of a mosaic wall. I thought he would stay for a while and chose to shoot the one you're looking at first. By the time I finished and turned back, the old man was gone : that image I didn't get went into my personal folder of the best pics I never shot...I wish you could also thumb them, they're a lot better than the ones I show you ;-)...
